It seems that on 3rd of september will find some interesting details, as Miles Jacobson say on SI forum
Dear all
Well, it's that time of year when we're getting ever closer to revealing the new features for our forthcoming Football Manager releases, Football Manager 2009 on PC & Mac, and Football Manager Handheld on PSP. I can confirm that they are both coming, and will both be out before Xmas. And out on the same date too.
As those of you who visit footballmanager.com might have seen, there's a bit of a teaser image up there. Guesses at what it is and why are more than welcome in this thread
As for the new features announcements, release date announcement and first look at the packshot, these will be coming in the evening of Wednesday September 3rd. So slightly later than the end of August originally promised but there are very good reasons for this, mainly involving global co-ordination for the announcement, and half of Southern Europe being shut down until next week.
The announcement itself will be in the form of a documentary type thing, made by Remedy Productions who do a lot of work with Channel 4 in the UK mainly on the music side of things. This will be initially viewable from our new You Tube channel, which can be found at www.youtube.co.uk/sigames .The video will be put up there first, and we'll then embed it into the various sigames and FM websites once it's encoded properly, sometime after 6pm next Wednesday, so it's well worth subscribing to the channel if you want to get it first. The documentary is going to be between 15 & 20 minutes long, and include many surprises along the way.
The day afterwards, when we've had some time to type it up, we'll post up some of the features that were discussed in the video for those of you with very short attention spans, or who are just too lazy to watch it. Which will hopefully be no one.
Please note that what we're announcing next Wednesday is not everything new that will be in the games, but a snapshot of some of the new features from the games. There will be further announcements as we get closer to the release date through some blogs (the site of which will be revealed when the first blog happens), the podcast and a few other places too. I'll leave it to others to then find these and post them on the forums here, although around the release of the demo will colate everything together to give as full a feature list as we'll ever give out. We don't want to ruin people's fun finding little things here and there during their game playing!
We look forward to the discussions of what we announce next week, although I'll be late to that party as at the same time as the announcements are going live, I'll be off at some press conference thingy. Just try to keep it constructive please - we hope there will be something for everyone in the announcement, but we can't please everyone all of the time, however hard we try
Cheers
Miles
That's an excelent news. Football Manager 2009 will be released until the Christmas, this year. And from 3 september we will find more and more features about the game. Stay tune!

Here some information and a video in which you can see the 3D Match Engine for Football Manager 2009.
World exclusive footage of the new game engine
By Andrew Dickens
Cited in divorce cases and job applications, used by professional scouts and coaches - when it comes to addiction, no game has ever been the opiate that is Football Manager. It's a game so huge, you could make a full-time occupation of it (many practically do) and still never reach its limits. It's also the most successful PC game by several country miles. And it'll give Kevin Keegan to do when he's not playing golf.
Last night, Miles Jacobson, Studio Director of SI Games, announced a few of the many, many new features fans can expect to find when they unwrap and install their lovely new copy of Football Manager 09. The biggest and most exciting new feature is the 3D visualisation of the match engine. Rather than the 2D dots floating about the pitch, you can watch your work unfold in three dimensions (though the 2D option is still there for traditionalists).
Miles said: "We've been working on it for about three years. We always said we'd go 3D when the technology was there. Our great relationship with Sega has made this possible. We actually used the technology from their Virtua Striker arcade game. What you see here, though, is probably 50% of what it will look like when the game is released." Which makes us very excited about seeing the 100% version.
ShortList.com is the first place you'll get to see this footage. We'll also be bringing you lots more exclusive FM news over the next few weeks including more new features and a very special interview with Miles plus the game's founders Paul and Oliver Collyer. In the meantime, enjoy this glimpse of the future.

Some features announced for football manager 2009 ( for the moment )
Football Manager 2009 for PC Features:
* 3D Match Engine – This year’s match engine has seen more testing than ever before having been extensively beta tested in Football Manager™ Live for the past year.
* TV View – Watch your matches in new full screen TV view and customize your match day screen with widgets to view the information you need as a football manager, be it player performance, match action zones, pitch radar, latest scores and many more.
* Assistant Manager Feedback – Pre-match and in-match feedback from your Assistant Manager on how the team is performing and your player’s motivation levels, as well as hints on how your tactics are working and how you could outwit the opposition’s tactics.
* Improved Media – SI have worked hard to reflect the greater impact the media has been having in recent years on the world of football, in the in-game dealings with the press. The game now features more news stories, more detail and greater media interaction than ever before, creating an even more realistic simulation of the football world.
* Press Conferences – Attend pre-match and post-match press conferences with local and national journalists and build up relationships with them over time, but choose your answers carefully because they could come back to haunt you in the media at a later date.
* Transfer System – Completely new and re-written transfer system code, providing an even more realistic simulation of real-life football transfers.
* Transfer Rumors – View the latest news on what players are being speculated on, and who’s said to be interested in securing their services.
* Board Confidence – Following on from its addition in Football Manager™ 2008, board confidence has been expanded and improved. In addition, the board will now also offer feedback on your squad harmony and your club’s stature in the football world.
* Preferred Moves – Train your players to learn ‘preferred moves’ to add to their game. For example, train central defenders to not dive into tackles, or wingers to do step-overs before crossing the ball.
* Female Manager – For the very first time you can now play as a female manager. All of the text in the game now also has a female gender so the game represents female managers and staff in the game in the correct gender.
* Realistic Finances – SI have listened to feedback from all of their researchers to try and model every single financial area of the game correctly for each country, including transfers, staff wages, budgets, ticket prices, season tickets, competition bonuses and club sponsorships.
* Updated Competitions – Fully updated for the new 2008/09 football season with all the latest league, club and player data, featuring over 5,000 playable clubs from 51 countries, and around 350,000 players and staff from around the world, drawn fresh from the famous Sports Interactive database.

WOW! Mejolaro is quite good. I wonder why Porto gave him away on Rapid. I think that he could have a place in Porto's eleven.
